I've done a pretty poor job of keeping the conversation going. A few
of the events involved have already had to secure a venue and date.
Fortunately, they're within a week.

I hate to tell all the other event organizers to plan around a
specific date, but if they're still interested in being part of Geek
Week we'll have to work something out.

PodCampAZ 3: Saturday, November 14 through Sunday, November 15
4th Annual AZ Entrepreneurship Conference: Thursday, November 12
Startup Weekend Phoenix 3: Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November
8

I heard Todd Huffman is looking into making BIL Conference an all-day
Friday (Nov 13) event. Friday nights in the Phoenix tech community are
usually pretty busy with "PFC," "EVFN," and other weekly Friday night
activities.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (Nov 9-11) are pretty open. As long as
there isn't much overlap in demographics, it wouldn't be a big deal to
overlap events.

Is it the third Startup Weekend Phoenix, or the second? I know there is a Startup Weekend at the end of this month, but my understanding is that it's specific to ASU.

I don't know much about the ASU one, but November would be the 3rd Startup Weekend IN Phoenix. To be more technically correct, it could be called Startup Weekend Phoenix 2 or even Startup Weekend @ ASU 2 if they want to organize another one and make it open to non-students. We could also call it Startup Weekend Phoenix 3, for being the third installment of a Startup Weekend in Phoenix.

yeah the ASU SW is really on the DL - only reason i found out was
because Jeremy (penguin) texted me to see if I wanted to help. I
think it's only ASU students honestly but I really don't know any more
info.

I can second thought of it only being open to ASU students. I do know they're looking for industry mentors, which is perhaps why Jeremy is reaching out to some of us. My feel is they want it to be it's own thing. The website is http://startupweekend.asu.edu/ though some of the pages aren't viewable unless you log with an ASUrite ID.

The Startup Weekend Phoenix planning crew can hash out the number, just wanted to confirm before we get too far on adding tons of dates to calendars.

We're still sorting out the Ignite Phoenix #5 dates, and are largely dependent on when TCA theater is open. As I mentioned to Brian in email, I am a little nervous about putting a 3 hour event like Ignite at the end of a full-day thing like BIL or AEC. I'd be worried a lot of the day attenders will be a wee bit too weary to run all night for Ignite. But I'm hoping we can fit into an open day at the start of the week.

Jeff.

Do whatever feels right. You know your event best.

We wouldn't want to schedule Ignite on the night of AEC, because we're expecting to have a Social Media Club event, an after-party, and quite likely, an after-after-party.

AEC is slated for Thursday. As I mentioned, rumor has it BIL will be aimed at Friday. Content-wise, Ignite would be an amazing follow-up/pair to BIL. I haven't attended a BIL conference, but it sounds like it's simply a BarCamp format with medium- to long-format talks & discussions. After a day of that, lightning presentations (and presentations that are actually planned/organized) would be quite a refreshing twist.

However, as Francine was implying, Wednesday would also be a good night. Monday and Tuesday are open right now -- and Ignite would make a great week-opener.

There will definitely be something during the afternoon before Ignite, no matter which weekday. Hopefully it's something that will compliment and not detract from Ignite's attendence. I imagine any event would be of benefit, because all of the day's attendees would be well-informed of Ignite.
