I had a similar issue while setting up my email handler and was also using Gmail. After some research, I found out that the host name and port number vary depending on the type of email account you have. For Gmail, the host name should be smtp.gmail.com, and the port number is usually 465 or 587. But here's a tip that might help you out: have you considered using PVA accounts? I got some Gmail accounts from them, and they really helped me with the same task. It's a great way to avoid any possible issues with your personal email account and keep your work and personal stuff separate.

As of February 1, 2023, new student email accounts are provided through Microsoft Office365. Students admitted prior to February 1, 2023, continue to have email accounts through Google (Gmail). Depending on when your email account was created, you may have a Google email account or an Office365 email account. Learn more about each service below.

When you are admitted as a new student and create a MIDAS account, your student email account is automatically activated. This email -- the official system for all University-related communications, policies, announcements, tuition bills and other information -- is yours for as long as you remain a student and is deleted one year after your last class at ODU, whether you graduate, transfer or decide not to register for additional classes.

ODU student email accounts are for active ODU students. If you have not registered for a class in 3 semesters, you will receive a notice that your email account will be purged. Soon after the notice, your account will be deleted. (There are a few exceptions; if you feel you need to keep your ODU email account, send an email to its...@odu.edu.)

Google/Gmail: There is a 20 MB size limit imposed, meaning that no individual email can be larger than 20 MB. If you try to send a message with attachments that add up to more than 20 MB, the message will bounce. If someone tries to send you an email that is over 20 MB, it too will bounce.

Office365/Outlook: You can add email addresses and domains to your lists of blocked senders or safe senders. Go to outlook.odu.edu and follow the instructions provided in this article from Microsoft: Filter junk email and spam in Outlook on the web

Launched in the early 2000s, Gmail is one of the top email providers available, holding 29.5% of the market share of email clients. The platform boasts over 1.8 billion users, many of whom use the platform for both personal and professional communication.

Though Gmail is used both at home and in the office, the needs of teams in a business or education setting can be a bit different. Instead of only needing a way to facilitate person-to-person communication, organizations also need a way for entire teams or departments to manage a single inbox and work collaboratively to respond to incoming messages.

Collaborative inboxes: People direct emails to a single email address; group members can view emails within their own Gmail account or log in to a web interface to access collaborative features.

Though it may be tempting to bend your workflow to accommodate the limitations of a Gmail shared mailbox, a wiser choice would be to look into a dedicated tool made explicitly for team email management, like Help Scout.

Help Scout is a shared inbox and communications platform that can grow with your team. Unlike Google products, our collaborative feature set is more than an afterthought and can help your team work together to better support your customers, clients, and community.

Reach out to colleagues for additional context or summarize a complicated issue using private notes. Private notes keep details inside the conversation and help avoid confusing forwarded email threads.

The light user role allows you to invite additional team members into your Help Scout account without taking up a licensed seat. These non-customer-facing users can view and follow conversations, leave private notes, view reports and knowledge base articles, and more.

In addition to real-time support, many users prefer self-service for simple cases. Help Scout enables your community to get the help they need via Docs, an easy-to-use knowledge base builder. Post FAQs and other helpful information in a customized help center, providing a centralized location for customers to seek information.

Beyond email, live chat, and self-service channels, Help Scout provides an avenue for proactive support through Messages. Use Messages to surface relevant knowledge base articles based on where someone is on your website or to launch a live chat window if a visitor seems stuck. You can also use the feature for advertising events, seeking customer feedback, or announcing new products and features.

Providing sound email support is crucial, but other communication methods will also become vital as your business grows. Gmail can handle email, but Help Scout has additional channels like live chat, self-service, and proactive support, enabling the platform to grow with your company and your customers' needs as they evolve.

All Help Scout plans include out-of-the-box reporting for every channel, with the ability to create custom views to track the metrics most important to you. Reporting data can help with staffing forecasts and provide insights into the health of your support team, product, and business overall.

Gmail is a powerful service that provides an individual email experience that is hard to beat. However, neither Gmail nor Collaborative Inbox are built with teamwork and shared inbox functionality in mind.

After activating your NetID, you can access your email account here. If you have an EliApps account, you can also access your email by visiting gmail.com and entering your Yale email address when prompted to log in.

CCSF email account guidelines require CCSF to delete inactive email accounts with no academic activity and/or College Services within the past 12 months. Your CCSFMail account, [username]@mail.ccsf.edu, will be deleted on [date]. You are strongly encouraged to back up your email and Google Workspace files before your account is deleted.

In your classes, some instructors may be sharing Google documents with you through Canvas. Also, as more features become available, you will be able to use the various applications, called Google Apps, attached to the start page.

The best way to ensure that you receive all CCSF communications is to use your CCSFmail. Because forwarding email has not been reliable in some situations, CCSF does not recommend relying on this feature. We have evidence that some bulk notifications and system email messages, like messages about waitlist registration, are often blocked by third-party email services. If you choose to forward your email, it is your responsibility to verify that you receive and read all CCSF messages. If you want to go ahead with forwarding, follow the steps below.

Email shall be considered the primary mechanism for delivering official communication by CCSF to students. The College retains the right to send official communication via email to the official CCSFmail email addresses of students with the full expectation that those communications will be received and read in a timely fashion.

It is recognized that certain communications may be time-sensitive. Therefore, students are expected to check their email on a frequent and consistent basis to stay current with College communications. Although you can easily forward your CCSFmail to another account, forwarding is not always reliable. The best way to ensure that you get all your CCSF email is to actively use your CCSFmail account.

Official CCSF communications contain information that students must have to conduct business with the College and for which they will be held accountable. Examples of official communication can include, but are not limited to:

Email shall be considered an appropriate means for official communication by faculty with students. As such, faculty can require students to check their CCSFmail email on a specific and/or regular schedule.

Once a student receives a CCSFmail email account, all official communication from the College shall be directed to that account. Students are expected to check their CCSF email account on a frequent and consistent basis.

Students who choose to have their CCSFmail email forwarded to a private, unofficial email address (e.g., hotmail.com, yahoo.com, etc.) that is outside the college network address (ccsf.edu) do so at their own risk. The College is not responsible for any difficulties that may occur in the proper or timely transmission or access of email forwarded to any unofficial e-mail address.

Gmail lets you open as many free accounts as you want. I personally have 3. One is for my personal use. I use it to communicate with friends and family. The second one is for work. I mostly share that email address with my clients and colleagues. And the last one is a throwaway Gmail account I use to subscribe to mass emails, promotions and newsletters.

To avoid wasting time logging in and out of those accounts, I added all of them to my phone and computer. As a result, I can now seamlessly navigate from one to another. All it takes is a few clicks. Want to do the same?

Step 6: Google will then ask you for some personal information (name, date of birth, gender). You can also choose your new Gmail address. Pick one of the email addresses recommended by Google. Or create your own.

The alias feature allows you to send emails from a secondary account. We posted an entire guide on that subject. You can check it out here. Or you can watch the video below, which will walk you through the process step-by-step.

Gmail is one of the most powerful messaging apps. You can easily create multiple accounts. Add a second Gmail account to any device you want. And even merge your email addresses into one inbox to conveniently send messages from the same account.

With Mailmeteor, you can for example send mass emails from an alias, track your emails in real time and schedule auto follow-ups and email sequences. Our premium plan lets you send up to 2 000 emails per day. Give us a try and let us know what you think!
