merge with record command

Hi John,

I'm writing an Internal Script that emulates your Python Merge Records script as well as adding some functionality related to forcing or forbidding merges based on REFN tags. I previously wrote a Python script (a modification or your script) to do this, but it runs very slowly (on the order of days for a GEDCOM with ~15000 INDI records and ~6000 FAM records). The GENerel version runs in less than an hour, but I can't actually merge records in the GENerel version. For now I just move source and survivor records to separate albums, and then I manually merge them (tedious).

It would be really helpful to have an Internal Scripting version of the merge with record command for this application. Is there any chance that this might become available in the near future?

Sorry to be slow. I am supposed get postings to this group sent to my email, but somehow missed this one.

Yes you are correct and GEDitCOM Editor help says "merge with" is "not implemented yet" for internal scripting. That is an oversight and not hard to fix. I guess I just never needed it, but sounds like you could use it. I will implement for next version.

I found a bug today that needs a new positing so won't be too long (a couple of weeks maybe?).

I just added MergeWith command for internal scripts. Newxtpostinf will have (fairly soon).
