Hi

I can't figure out how to see ALL individuals in one tree (I know this is possible with other genealogy software). The issue is that there are two individuals at the top of the tree, each with dozens of descendants. They may be brothers, but I cannot yet confirm this. Creating a link that may not be accurate will obviously affect the relationships between their descendants. For example, if I link them (as brothers), I and a certain individual will be shown as fourth cousins, although we might not be related!

How can I display EVERYONE in one tree - rather than just the descendants of each of those at the top of the tree?

Many thanks.

Angie

A descendant tree means to only show descendants so I am not sure what you mean by showing people who are not descendants in a descendant tree. That sounds some new graphic display feature, but I am not clear the goal or how it would be constructed.

Now usually people's files are mostly connected. One solution (especially if you have large monitor or two monitors) is to open multiple family tree windows, and you can open any number in GEDitCOM II at the same time. In your example, do a tree for each of the two individuals you are interested in and resize them for viewing side-by-side at the same time. In other examples, you open enough to have everyone displayed someplace. I use that method sometimes to visuallze connections in my files.

Hi John

Thank you for your fast response.

I'm not saying that. What I'm looking for is to show all individuals in the file (related or not) on one screen, not descendants who are not descendants. :)

I have a "cousin" whose mother married my uncle, so there's no blood relationship between us. However, there's a possibility that our great great grandfathers were brothers, making us fourth cousins.

One solution (especially if you have large monitor or two monitors) is to open multiple family tree windows

Yes, I see; that might work. Thank you.

Regards
Angie

While it seems you may be pretty happy with the multi-window solution, can you tell us what chart and what product made the view you were hoping for?  That way we might be able to better understand what you're looking for.
