Season’s Greetings
It is with some degree of sadness and afeeling of disappointment that Alumni Association is postponing celebration ofFirst Annual Alumni Day, originally planned for 24 December 2010.
Those of you, who had been receivingregular e-mails concerning communications with the Institute, would know thatdespite Association’s best efforts the coordination between the Institute andthe Association could not be brought up to a desired level. Our letters andrequests for a meeting with the Director were never answered. And finally on 16October a delegation went in to meet the Director without any prior notice –please see the attached letter.
On 20 October, theDirector Madam gave permission to hold Annual Alumni Day on 24 December 2010,and two days later she declared winter vacations from 18 December to 28December. And despite being fully aware that this change in winter vacationswill completely jeopardize the Annual Alumni Day, the Institute never botheredto inform the Association. Just by chance this change came to Association’sknowledge on 19 November.
Very next day, Mr.Laxmi Kant Agrawal, Convener of the Annual Alumni Day Celebrations, wrote aletter to Director Madam requesting to change the winter vacations and start itfrom 27 December as per the original academic calendar. On 24 November, shecommunicated thru Dr. Sameer Bajpai that our request could not be entertainedand winter vacations will remain unchanged from 18 to 28 December.
Hence in accordancewith the executive committee’s decision of 21 November, the Annual Alumni Dayis being postponed. Further, as per President Dr. A.S. Zadgaonkar’sinstructions, Director Madam would be requested to suggest a date in the nearfuture which shall be suitable to all concerned and when full heartedcooperation of the Institute will be assured.
