Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver allows users to connect their mobile devices if they wish for an alternative for Nokia PC Suite. It is a driver software that makes mobile devices compatible with computers since they have a different system. Direct connection of mobile devices to computers will only show the accessible drives but some mobile files might not compatible. Only using driver software can identify and read very specific files, as well as access drives from mobile devices. The other nifty feature of this software is that it can charge the mobile device, which is a common feature for mobile devices capable of connecting to computers. The software also functions like Nokia PC Suite where users can copy, move or delete files, as well as create a backup of messages and contacts for archiving. There are only specific types of Nokia cable that are compatible with this software. These include Nokia Connectivity Cable CA-53, DKE-2 and DKU-2, Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable CA-42, and Nokia Charging Connectivity Cable CA-70 and CA-101.

If you use a USB data cable as the link between the PC and mobile phone, you need to install the Windows driver for the USB data cable. Most mobile phones come with a CD which contains a bunch of software, including the driver that you want and a software suite that you may not be interested in. But the truth is that it's all or nothing: There's no way to install just the driver only.

Nokia provide a universal driver installation software called Nokia connectivity cable driver. It supports all Nokia data cables including DKE-2, DKU-2, CA-42, CA-53, CA-70 and CA-101. The current version is Vista-ready and contains both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers. For more info, please visit Nokia Support.

Yes, it's possible to use your phone as a modem, connected to the tablet via a USB cable, as long as you have
(1) an APN from your network operator to make a data connection via their network, and
(2) suitable device drivers for the phone. On Windows, smartphones are plug and play, but I don't have any experience using them with Android.

The most convenient way to connect to the phone is to use the USB cable. To get this to work, I needed to update my drivers. I got updated drives from sftp.savaje.com. Instructions for installing the drives can be found in the documentation accompanying the phone, and online at the SavaJe Wiki. In short, you need to:

Nokia has a wide range of USB-MiniUSB and USB-MicroUSB cables that require a special driver. The driver pack for Nokia CA and DKU USB cables has them all, except for the controller for the old DKU-5 cable, which is offered separately.
