Whereas one agrees on the concept of transcriptomic continuity across cell types in development, how does this concept fit with the canonical criterion of classifying cell types in the cerebral cortex in discrete groups, as is also done in this study? Although this is clearly not the main focus of the study, this type of classification analysis is quite used throughout the manuscript, and so the authors would do well in discussing this point.
