It is a tremendous honor to serve as your principal and a great privilege to be a Lancer. The pride that fills our campus is contagious and I am excited you have chosen to be a part of our family. On behalf of our faculty, coaches, and staff, I reaffirm our commitment to the mission: a small, safe school setting, rigorous curriculum, high academic standards, outstanding athletics and a dual enrollment experience that offers up to 60 hours of transferable college credit.

LCA grows and develops well-balanced, successful, happy students who are willing and confident in taking the risks needed to lead a highly successful life. At the same time, we instill a sense of responsibility and awareness of a world bigger than any one person. LCA offers a dual enrollment program in which students are challenged mentally and physically to excel in their various career interests and athletic preferences.

Lancer Life focuses on the whole child and offers a rigorous curriculum integrating athletics, honors academics, and student life activities. Our Gradual Release Model begins with unlimited support through our Freshman Academy, provides scaffolded support and bridges to opportunities in The Connection Innovative Space; and finally, our Senior Transitions program pairs with our York Tech/USCL/Winthrop campus models as the final piece of our preparation for real world choices post high school. As students progress from year to year, they are provided more academic freedom with increased responsibility. By the end of their senior year, they are ready to pursue higher education or career opportunities.

LCA students are intrinsically motivated to excel in the classroom, their chosen athletic arena(s), work opportunities, and community service experiences. The collegiate model is designed for an independent, goal-oriented student. The LCA graduate will possess a strong sense of community, sportsmanship, responsibility, teamwork, and academic confidence.

The policies contained in this handbook are not exhaustive. LCA has the discretion to supplement and modify policies noted here. For updates, please see the latest edition of the handbook posted here on the LCA website.

School wide announcements are shared via the Legion Website, email, school intercom,The Buzz Board (outside The Connection), the electronic monitors on the main and athletic hallways, and our Social media outlets: Facebook, X and Instagram. In addition, each grade level will have a Google classroom for their specific grade information provided by the counseling department. Our monthly Lancer Letter and our weekly The Week at the Castle will be sent by email. Students are responsible for checking their Legion email and their grade respective Google classroom DAILY to stay current. Legion will not communicate through student personal email addresses. Parents should also check their emails regularly for messages from the school.

All public announcements, such as signs, brochures, etc. must be approved by the principal before being displayed or distributed on the school campus. No adhesive material may be used on interior or exterior walls or furnishings to post materials. Any unapproved materials will be removed or confiscated and could result in administrative action.

All teams will operate under the guidance of an effective coaching staff that is committed to assuring the student-athlete reaches their educational goals. Members of the coaching staff will employ safe and educationally sound techniques designed to promote the development of the student-athlete as a whole person.

Your questions and concerns are important to all of us. However, we do have a chain of communication that should be followed. We will do our best to answer questions/concerns you may have in a timely manner.

The first communication should be made with the head coach of the program. This would concern playing time, coaching decisions, etc. Basically, everything that has to do with running the program from the coaching side.

The second communication should be made with the Athletic Director. Please understand that the athletic director does not make coaching decisions. If there are issues with the mental or physical treatment of our student-athletes, if you would like to recommend changes to a policy or procedure that is currently in place, etc., these are areas that should be discussed with the Athletic Director.

Our individual eligibility rules for student-athletes are still being finalized. This will change should we gain membership into a conference or league. Legion Collegiate Academy has a set of expectations for conduct on school property and school functions or off campus. These expectations are based on the principles of civility, mutual respect, citizenship, character, tolerance, honesty and integrity. The student-athlete, who participates in interscholastic sports, should recognize that they have an obligation to themselves, their teammates, and the school community to strive for excellence. It is hoped that participation in athletics will enable the student-athletes to exercise good sporting behavior and mature judgment.

In addition to any academic suspension, a student shall be subject to suspension from all athletic activities from a minimum of three (3) days up to one (1) calendar year when such student engages in conduct to include but not limited to:
