Hi there,

we are interested in building Gecode as a static lib on Windows. But in the configure-script we found the following:

Configure.png

Can somebody maybe shed some light on this? Thanks!

Best regards
Conrad

Hi,

If I'm not misremembering, there is simply no-one that has worked to ensure that static linking on Windows works when building with Microsofts compiler. I think that there is nothing inherent that is problematic, it "just" needs someone that cares about getting it right.

I might be wrong though. Unfortunately, I have little experience in Windows and in particular working with Microsofts compilers

Anyone else with some experience in this area?

Cheers,
Mikael

Although it might lack some of the more advanced features compiling Gecode using CMake (instead of configure > make) does allow you to compile Gecode as static libraries on Windows. This is the method used for the MiniZinc distribution.

Thanks Jip and Mikael for your responses! We will give it a go and see what happens.
