Hello,

Thank you for all your hard work on GECO.

I'm a new user to both Leap Motion and GECO. I was wondering if it has since become possible to send even one note, or control synths in some way that doesn't require another controller sending notes or arranged MIDI notes in a DAW. I'm thinking it could be possible utilizing a CC, or rather OSC value mapped across a range of notes. So for example the height of the hand could determine the note played.

This may be the best solution so far. http://www.maxforlive.com/library/index.php?by=any&q=cc+to+midi+note

I'm also interested in the addition of finger gestures in future versions of GECO. Even just an index finger gesture would be nice and likely more accurate than a whole hand.

Thanks

Hi,

Fingers gestures are not planned at the moment, GECO is intended for live performance and wiggling around your fingers doesn't translate well for that. The palm position is actually very stable and expressive.

There's still a chance that we'll add note support, but not in an axial arrangement. Apart from just moving up and down through scales, this has not much practical benefit.

Take care,

I think adding midi note send capability would be of great benefit, not to just play notes but to map notes to Ableton clips and launch them during performance, for example. Uwe Hoenig has done this in his set up for the video "Leap Motion gesture control jam" by creating his own Reaktor-based midi cc to midi note converter. I hope you consider adding this to future versions of Geco. Thanks!

Hi all,

Midi Notes can also trigger keyswitches while performing or tracking virtual instruments!!!!!

This is a must have for expression cause you got your left hand stuck over Leap Motion and can't press any lower key while playing with right hand!

I found a workaround for this with Cubase's Input Transformer... Converting Midi CC to one Note ON  in a toggle mode. (Borme Midi Translator should make it possible as well)

A bit tricky cause you have to get a Note Off also when you go back to neutral hand position... But it works!

I will soon post and share about this.
