Is it possible to INSTALL Gecko (not burn) on usb pendrive through vbox or .iso file? I would like to have persistance options and update Gecko on my pendrive. Would be great if I dont neet to burn iso file on Pendrive1 first and then run live Gecko from Pendrive1 to install it on Pendrive2.

Hi there, I've never tried it, but you could attempt booting GeckoLinux in VirtualBox and then enable the USB passthrough for a USB key and see if it lets you install it there. Make sure it installs the bootloader on the correct device.

My understanding is that some distributions support a kind of "burn" by a 3rd-party utility like unetbootin, where the LiveDVD ISO image is extracted to the pendrive, and then a persistent storage file is also created.  This way the read-only filesystem from the LiveDVD is able to save all changes inside the storage file.

I have heard from a person experienced in doing this that Tumbleweed supports this method but Leap does not.  So if you want to try this option, start with GeckoLinux Rolling editions first.

Hi there, currently only GeckoLinux *STATIC* editions support persistent storage of settings. It doesn't require any special kind of USB creation tool, you can use `dd` or whatever you prefer. The Rolling editions need to be updated with the new build system I am using, after which they will also support persistent USB storage.
