Wow, that was a fast reply! Thank you!
I ask merely because the last "news" posts on
https://geckolinux.github.io/ were from January, and the ones before
that from 2 years ago, so I wasn't sure if it was still active. I'm
delighted to learn that it is. :-)
I returned to *SUSE late last summer after over a decade away -- I
used to run SUSE Professional but switched to Ubuntu when it was
launched. It's been good to come back, and GeckoLinux is even more
pleasant. Thanks for all your work.
I started out with GNOME but did not get on with it. Then I tried KDE
5, with the same result. LXQt is usable but feels very incomplete to
me -- for instance I can't connect to Wifi.
Next I tried Cinnamon but I couldn't get it working properly in
isolation, from either Leap or Tumbleweed -- score one point for
GeckoLinux, which configured everything, login screen, accessories,
panel layout, the lot.
Now it's running on my work laptop, but it occasionally throws random
errors or says it's restarted things -- so I think next time I will be
going with a pure Xfce install. In my experience it does vertical
panels much better than Maté.
