Kevin,

Using 1.0.7 in any browser with an app called "Airdroid" to play videos wirelessly through any browser from my android phone fails in gecko-media player but works with mplayerplug-in. This is in Puppy Linux with gmtk/gecko/gnome-mplayer compiled against gtk+-2.0 using slackware libs and bins. All the big browsers have been tested except Opera because it fails with the droid app, however, gecko fails completely in Opera whereas mplayerplug-in works.

Any testing you want me to do, let me know.

Mick,

I installed AirDroid on my hacked Kindle Fire and from what I can tell
when using firefox is that the music is being played using either a
flash component or with the internal html 5 audio tag. So I don't see
the plugin being loaded.

I know you said you tested with Opera, but I don't currently have that
installed on my system.

So can you try the other browser and see if it works there?

First does gecko-mediaplayer work on any site in opera?

This is usually a good first test:

http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/testing/testvid.html

Then if that works:

Please enable verbose debugging in gnome-mplayer and then run opera
from a terminal and see if any output about gecko-mediaplayer does
come out. Send me that output and I'll see if I can find the problem.

Most likely it is a simple work around.

Good news, in latest svn gecko-mediaplayer works with Airdroid, thanks.
And it's only with video that gecko gets used. Could well
be flash for audio.

Opera still fails but I can't get a peep out of it.
I think I got it right with enabling verbise debug but configre
told me it's an "unreconized option". Seems to work though
so I'll attach a log from firefox.
One thing, if I open opera at the mlplayerplug-in test site
gnome-mplayer very briefly flashes past, indicating a
crash to me.
