Aresident is an individual that has established a true fixed and permanent home and primary residence in Indiana for 60 consecutive days prior to purchasing a license or permit and not claim residency for hunting, trapping, or fishing in another state or country. All others are nonresidents.

Anyone born after Dec. 31, 1986, must successfully complete a DNR-offered hunter education class to purchase a hunting license. The Hunter Education Number (HED#) must be entered into the license system in order to purchase a hunting license that is not an apprentice version if the person was born after Dec. 31, 1986.

1 Youth consolidated hunt/trap licenses are for residents 17 or younger. All youth hunting licenses are valid for the designated license year, even if the individual turns 18 during that year, but the license must be purchased before the youth turns 18.

3 Indiana residents who were born before April 1, 1943, are exempt from needing a fishing license when fishing in Indiana waters but are able to purchase a Voluntary Senior Fishing License, which supports fisheries conservation and public access in Indiana.

4 The deer license bundle is one license that includes privileges to harvest two antlerless deer and one antlered deer. The deer license bundle cannot be used to satisfy deer reduction zone bag limits. The deer license bundle can be used in the special youth, archery, firearms, muzzleloader, and special antlerless seasons.

5 A person must first purchase a Bonus Antlerless Deer License at the rate of $39 (residents) or $240 (non-residents) before purchasing the Second and any Additional Bonus Antlerless Deer Licenses at the reduced rate. No other deer license type counts towards the reduced price for the Second and any Additional Bonus Antlerless Licenses.

Duplicate licenses can be purchased online. The cost of a reprint or duplicated license is $3 for each license purchased at a retailer. You can reprint your license online for free up to five days after you purchased your license.

Indiana allows non-resident landowners, including their spouse and children living with them, to hunt on their own farmland in Indiana without a hunting license only if the state in which the person resides allows Indiana residents the same privilege. For Iowa residents that own farmland in Indiana and hunt on their farmland, you do not need a license for small game and furbearers but are required to have a license to hunt deer and turkey. Ohio residents that own farmland in Indiana and hunt on their farmland are exempt from needing hunting licenses for any species. Virginia residents that own farmland in Indiana and hunt on their farmland are exempt from needing a license to hunt any species. Review other license exemptions.

Non-resident youth 17 or younger must have a valid hunting license when hunting in Indiana. For example, a non-resident youth age 17 or younger must have a valid Non-resident Youth Annual Hunting License or Non-resident Youth 5-Day Hunting license to hunt waterfowl or squirrels in Indiana. Non-resident youth age 17 or younger may hunt or trap with a resident license if a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian is an Indiana resident. Non-resident youth age 17 or younger are exempt from a fishing license, state migratory waterfowl stamp, and gamebird habitat stamp.

Nothing is sure but death and taxes . . . and that costs continue to go up when raising Gamebirds. Although I use pheasants as the focus of this article, the points made are just as true for partridges and quail. It takes about 18 lbs. of feed to raise a May hatched pheasant to maturity. However the pheasants that producers raise from July chicks and sell in March eat more than 18 lbs. of gamebird feed. In light of that, I am going to assume for this article that a pheasant eats 22 lbs. of feed on average.

Most pheasant producers feed their birds with various protein levels in their feed. We start our pheasants on 28% protein feed, step down to 26% at three weeks, and then feed a 20% grower from 6 weeks til the birds are sold at 24 weeks. We only use about 2 lbs. of 28% and 26% feed, so I am going to base my comments on the price of the 20% grower.

After flying both fixed-pitch and constant-speed propellers, Ithink the added weight of constant speed is usually worth it. If you flyaerobatics with a fixed-pitch propeller, you have to worry about overspeedingthe engine. There are some great fixed-pitch aerobatic airplanes out there, like the 150-hp Bellanca-made Decathlon. But the 180-hp American Champion SuperDecathlon is a much, much better aerobatic mount.

One good way to compare aerobatic airplanes is with theirpower-to-weight ratios. A high power-to-weight ratio means much better climbperformance and acceleration. This is why people like six-cylinder engines. Theyadd a lot of power without much increase in weight. The downside is highermaintenance and operating costs. There is no such thing as a free lunch!

You also have to think about what it is like to bail out of anairplane. A lot of homebuilt designs are not easy to get out of in anemergency. Even many aircraft in the RV series do not score high in this regardbecause on some the canopy opens forward into the airstream. Unless you can getthe airplane slow, you will have a very hard time opening the canopy in anemergency. But even production airplanes can be tricky to exit. Every time I flya Decathlon from the back seat, I worry about how I will ever get my fat bottomout of the airplane in a hurry. It would be a lot easier to get out of an open-cockpitbiplane like a Great Lakes.

I make dozens of aerobatic flights a month in my Extra 330SC at myhome airport. Each flight is about a half-hour long. A lot of aerobaticairplanes are flown like this and never leave the airport area at all.

In other parts of the world, airplanes are frequently shared viaflying clubs. In the United States, it is a lot more common to own your own airplane. Each way of doing things has advantages. I think that eventually there will bemore flying clubs in the United States, but your best bet for now is to buy an airplaneyourself or to join a small partnership.

Partnerships make great sense for aerobatic airplanes because, unlike airplanes designed for going places, aerobatic planes usually staywithin a few miles of their home airport. I enjoyed a partnership in a SuperDecathlon and had a great experience. We never seemed to have a conflict aboutwho was going to use the airplane. We also got to share knowledge with eachother, trained together, and had a lot of fun hanging out in the hangar talkingbetween flights.

Thank you for viewing our web site. This page of the web site is intended for hunting resort owners. This page is not hunting information. It is directed to resort owners that need help within their business. That being said here we go for those who are interested in making their resort all it can be! We come to you to help start your hunting operation OR to help you save you losing it and your huge investment. We have helped many in the industry get started.

I will come to your business. I will tour the operation with you. Then set down with you to discuss ideas and give input as to how you can make your business grow. Sad to report most resorts last about 3 years. My local game warden told me this 20 years ago, I have had 4 game wardens since then! Most resorts do not understand what they are doing wrong until it is to late. Most resorts do not show a profit. MOST RESORTS ARE RUN BY GOOD HUNTERS, NOT GOOD SALESMAN. You may have the best dogs, the best birds, the best land but none of this is important if no one comes to pay you for a hunt!

1. You pay all travel costs to and from your location. Some locations can be drove to by me. Others I will fly to you for the visit. You pickup at the airport and return. Hotel or lodge for all overnights by you. All meals. All travel related expenses are by you and I will supply your receipts for IRS deductions.

For more information call Kim Shira at 620-674-8863 . Information about our resort, just click back to other pages on this web site. Whatever you choose, I wish you all the best. May God Bless You, Kim

Below is the chart of how these costs then translate to the price per pound of specific upland bird. These prices assume the total number of birds harvested at 3 levels with the fixed cost of shells being $1.80 per bird. (Not many bird hunters actually harvest 20 birds per year, let alone 80.)

We have successfully kept our bird prices the same for 10 years but we are sorry to inform you that due to increased feed cost and energy cost the price of pheasants has went up to 19$ each during regular season! If you take advantage of one of these great Pre-pay options or get a membership then you will lock in your birds at a great price for your hunting Memories this year!

Changes in 2023: This year, the DEEP will purchase a total of 21,160 adult pheasants. The Saturday permit-based program will continue at Naugatuck State Forest (Hunter's Mountain Block only) and Eversource Skiff Mountain Cooperative WMA. The Saturday permit program will be temporarily suspended at Durham Meadows WMA due to anticipated poor ground conditions, as well as at Simsbury WMA due to planned habitat modification that would limit permit numbers. All hunters wishing to use the 2 areas open for the Saturday program must have a Saturday permit and can only be present at the areas during the time specified on the daily permit. Saturday permits for these 2 areas will only be available on the Online Outdoor Licensing System the Monday preceding the Saturday hunts, starting at 7:00 AM. (More details)
