Safe Streets
Central
Eugene in Motion
Attend
open house on Tuesday, November 19
At an open house, city
staff will unveil possible design changes to
several streets in central Eugene with the goal
of improving safety and comfort for all modes of
travel:
Tuesday,
November 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Campbell Community Center
155 High Street, Eugene
The public is welcome to
view the ideas and weigh in for the three areas
of the Central Eugene in Motion
project:
- Downtown
on 8th Avenue
- Amazon
Path to Riverbank Path via Pearl & High
Streets
- Midtown
Willamette Street
Some of the proposed
designs are expected to include protected
bikeways, separated from auto traffic. The study
of Pearl & High Streets grew out of an idea
to connect the Amazon Path and the River Path
system with a more path-like biking experience
through downtown.
The Pearl & High
Streets portion of the effort is also notable
because the city’s Vision Zero Action Plan
identifies Pearl as a “high crash” street for
both walking and biking.
If you can’t make the
open house, an online forum will open on
November 20.
The city plans to gather
feedback and present its preferred designs for
the three areas at another open house on
January 15.
