This looks great but I think we should also pursue the ResearchGate option. Take a look, for example, at the `visualization' feature (for people you're following).  I haven't figured out exactly what it's doing, but it seems promising - or at least cool!

I am wanting to develop business relationships with others who are in business PRIMARILY to raise money for Global Change in some area or another. It is my passion. I would like to host it on my website. Right now,  my web host is Start Logic, but I think I could always link it to Google. It seems that all the other social networks for business are all about business. I use Google Products ALL the time, and use Chrome Extensions from my browser. I really love apps that do the work for me. I get tired of researching and pasting scripts. And I don't know what I'm  doing  half the time until I try it.  

Make drag-drop apps (not sure what you call them) so you can customize on a single page!!! Make it simple, so anybody can do it!!!

Features that would help are:

Chat (with ability to see who is on). I know Google Hangouts has this feature, but for a group of several hundred people, I don't think Google Hangouts is the ideal solution.

Use some of the better features of Facebook. (upload photos and post) Again, I know Google Hangouts does that, but right now, when I go to post something, a default list of contacts comes up, and I had to UNCHECK about 30 boxes to post to the group of mine  that I want to post to. A Social Network would probably be members only. 

The ability to import my Facebook Contacts and choose exactly which ones I want to add to my social network. I also am on MySpace, Twitter, Linked In - Ideally, my social network would allow me to import all of these places, and choose which members (all or individually) I want to add to my social network),

Ability to import contacts via all my email accounts.

I need chat rooms by categoy: for example: Building houses out of cob, starting businesses on a shoestring budget, playing games, etc. (I  have a LOT of interests and a LOT of contacts in these areas)

I use Google Hangouts, but it seems to be slow taking off. I have TONS of ideas how Google could make a Social Site that is simple to allow users to create, and would LOVE to help them with my ideas....I think for Google, the best marketing strategy would be to gear towards Social Change - the people who are motivated by Social/Global change seem to be like-minded and out-of-the-box thinkers, and PASSIONATE and DEDICATED because there is something inside us driving us to that end.
