I now find that if I start Internet Explorer *before* the Logitech Profiler is started, the joystick does get recognized and works fine. If the Profiler is already started, you have to exit from it (actually exit from the system tray widget, not just close the window) and then start IE. Then you can start the Profiler and use it to enhance the joystick control in GEFS.
