Dear Hon Mr Chan

Following our phone conversation in the afternoon on 18 Dec (from your phone no. ******29), Dr CHOI Yuk Lin, JP Under Secretary for Education also called me in the evening (from her phone no. ******11) to learn more about this matter. Although this issue could not be resolved immediately, I'd like to thank you and Dr. Choi for your attention.
Two members of the concern group will write a letter to the editor in the South China Morning Post responding to two letters published yesterday about how Legco members can better communicate with the youth and whether the government listens to people's voices. In our letter, we'll refer to the fact that both you (a Legco member) and Dr Choi (a senior government official) listened to our opinions.  While we still hope that the government can waive the quarantine requirement for new students from Mainland in the near future, we also look forward to future conversations with Legco members and government officials on a wide range of issues facing Hong Kong and global society.   It is hoped that more people in the city will communicate with the government and Legco through existing mechanisms for constructive and rational discussion about the future of Hong Kong.

Yours sincerely
