Hi

Hope this is the right place to ask this question.

I'm looking into using gdsfactory for various device simulations. I have Klayout installed in windows, but for various reasons I run most of my python i docker instances and would like to do this also for gdsfactory.

Is there a way to integrate gdsfactory running in docker with klayout running in windows?

Thanks
Torben

Hi,

KLayout listens for gdsfactory on port 8082, swo if you can forward to that from your ocker container, it nshould be doable. There was quite a bit of discussion on this on how this coukld be done in the KLive repo in gdsfactory.

Hey Torben,
I have developed a klayout package for exactly that purpose:

This package is intended for use with the devcontainer provided by this repo:
You can also run it in github codespaces (accessed from your local VSCode).

I didn't find the time yet to put down a proper write up, so feel free to reach out, if anything is unclear.

Regards JD
