Friendly reminder:

Students can find details and guidelines online for submitting digital portfolios for BFA.  Digital portfolios are due in an email to Bushell, Peter <pbu...@ilstu.eduby Sunday March 3 (review is on the 5th).

The portfolio review is in place for only those students interested in studying in the new BFA design sequence.

There is no portfolio review for those students wishing to continue their studies at ISU and get their BA or BS in design.

The attached documents lay out some of the similarities and differences between BA/BS and BFA.

BA/BS:

  • 8 required design courses
  • 54 hours in art overall
  • broader liberal arts focus
  • opportunity/advised to also do a minor or concentration that can complement their studies in design.
(design/business entrepreneur,  design/civic engagement,  design/digital arts,  design/studio arts such as photo, printmaking, etc.)

BFA:

  • 12 required design courses
  • 78 hours in art overall
  • more specialized in design, rather than broad
  • senior year has individual research subject focus, including exhibition requirement
