The Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association releases CD album Tình Yêu Lên Ngôi by Phạm Anh Dũng
 
Santa Ana, CA (September 29, 2011) – Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA) will host the album release of Tình Yêu Lên Ngôi (Love Comes to the Throne) by Phạm Anh Dũng on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 8:00pm-10:30pm (doors open at 7:30pm for a reception) at the VAALA Cultural Center, 1600 N. Broadway, Santa Ana, CA 92706.  Admission to the entire event is free and open to the public.
 
The album release event will feature an amazing line up of performers: Ý Lan, Nhật Hạ, Huỳnh Thái Bình, Lê Hồng Quang, Quỳnh Lan, Tịnh Hiếu, Vương Đức Hậu, Minh Ngọc, Phạm Gia Nghị, Phạm Gia Cổn, Thúy An, Lan Hương, Vũ Trung Hiền, Nguyễn Đình Sơn, Ngô Bá Định, Vy Hà, Nguyễn Duy, Phạm Quang Tố, Phạm Xuân Cầu, and Lý Văn Quý.  Đại Dương & Uyển Diễm will co-emcee the event. All proceeds from the album sales will be donated to VAALA by Phạm Anh Dũng.
 
Phạm Anh Dũng was born in 1949.  He began writing songs in 1965, as a student at Võ Trường Toản High School.  He has since produced 14 albums and many of his songs such as Dạ Quỳnh Hương, Tình Là Hư Không, Gọi Mùa Thu Mơ, Quỳnh have become well known tunes covered by notable singers.  Phạm Anh Dũng, who is also a physician, still manages to be very active in song writing.  He has written over 350 songs which infuse the poetic lyrics of a variety of poets.  He also served on the Board of Directors of VAALA during the organization’s early days.  Phạm Anh Dũng currently lives in Santa Maria, California.
 
The late poet Nguyên Sa commented on Phạm Anh Dũng’s music in Dân Chúng Magazine: “Phạm Anh Dũng has acquired elements such as sound, arrangement, music, lyrics and emotions, sentiments”.
 
Writer Phạm Quốc Bảo (under pen name Hà Châu) noted: “Phạm Anh Dũng captures the beat of life, continuing the flow of Vietnamese music, being able to connect with Ngô Thụy Miên, Từ Công Phụng of the 1960’s in Vietnam, moving forward to the diaspora in the early years of the 21st century.” (Người Việt Daily News, December 16, 2004)
 
Tình Yêu Lên Ngôi features 17 songs written in various styles which include valse, tango, cha cha cha, rumba, and Vietanmese traditional music.  The songs are performed by Ý Lan, Tuấn Ngọc, Mai Hương, Bảo Yến, Diệu Hiền, Quỳnh Lan, Nguyễn Phi, Hoàng Quân, Xuân Thanh, Ẩn Lan, Khải Ca, and Thanh Ngọc.   To place an order for the album, please email vaa...@yahoo.com or go to www.vaala.org for more information.
