Hey folks, the Google I/O developers conference will be going on from May 15th - 17th. If you don't know about I/O, it's where new and enhanced Google APIs and developer-oriented offerings are unveiled, and attendees immerse themselves in training sessions and codelabs.

This year, I'm going to be at I/O -- so it's a great opportunity to use me as your eyes and ears for anything in which you might be especially interested. Want to dig into a meaty question about an API? Get me to hunt down the responsible Googler and extract an answer!

To make the content from I/O available to as many people as possible, Google streams the keynotes and many of the sessions live over the 'net. You could just watch those at home, but why be antisocial when you could be social and organize a Google I/O Extended event? Remember that the keynotes start around 9:00 Pacific time, so that would be perfect time to gather in a common location and take in the keynote together... possibly with some food, and maybe beverages.

Would anyone be interested in organizing a Google I/O Extended for the Sudbury region? If so, reply in the comments and we'll get things going. And c'mon, Edmonton is holding an Extended event, surely we can match them!

Great news!

Emily and Kacey have stepped up and are going to host a keynote-watching event in the Math & Computer Science Club Room (FA-365) on Laurentian campus for maximum streaming bandwidth awesomeness. May 15th at noon - be there!

If you see something during the keynote that intrigues you, or are interested in further details on one of the streaming sessions that you might watch later on, feel free to hit me up and I'll try and track down an answer for you from one of those people in the flesh they call "engineers" that will be on-site.
