Can anyone recommend their latest Android phone?

And can anyone suggest a good plan with unlimited voice, text and data for both me and my wife?
I am trying to stay away from two-year agreements.

Our two year old HTC-EVOs are wearing out, as is my patience with Sprint PCS and their over-priced 2-year plan.
Ours is up in August and I am looking around.

Thank you.
Bob

I purchased the Nexus 4 directly from Google for $350 had T-Mobile activate it. Will be paying $106 a mos. I got fed up with Sprint raping me on monthly bills too.

Get the Nexus 4 and then go straight talk, $46 a month for unlimited text talk and data with no contract, works great for me on auto-pay. The sim card only costs $15 you just order it online.

I have NEXUS 4 as well.  I paid $300+tax for phone and pay $30/month(tmobile) for 5gb 4g then 2g, unltd text, 100 minds, use Google voice(talktaphone app) for most calls on 4g.
I never had anything other than t-mobile.  I think Sprint/Verizon are expensive due to their service, so You would have to consider reception and how much you can tolerate any interruptions.
For example, I usually don't get reception inside buildings.
Here are some plans to experiment with
LycaMobile-

$30 Unlimited nationwide Talk, Text & Data (50 MB at up to 4G speed) EACH Line

45$ Straight Talk - Unltd everything -- I think its 3g though  EACH LINE

70$ Verizon Prepaid - unltd everything 4G

60$ Verizon - unltd 2G internet

Just some of many.  I never had any phone contract.

Check out refurb. programs from best buy especially around holiday season.  I love my motorola Atrix 2 especially for the fm radio for NPR.  I would say the only down side of the phone is it is power hungry although I have a couple chargers that will charge the phone thru USB and a extra battery simultaneously.  Might want to check out the accessory options before buying.

If you're asking about straighttalk coverage then its good. Prettymuch the same as att or tmobile because I think they piggyback of said carriers' networks.

I'm trying out Ting (ting.com) on my son's phone.  They lease service from Sprint, and then sell to customers in reasonable chunks.  If you go over your chosen set point for any service (voice, text, or data) they kick you to the next higher level of service which is a reasonable price, and whatever you don't use carries over to the next month.  No contract.  You have to buy your own phone, but they have good deals on slightly older phones.  NOT an unlimited plan, but I calculated based on my usage that it is MUCH cheaper than the Verizon plan I currently have my family on. If you have a family you can limit usage on a phone by phone basis, e.g. turn off data if it goes over a certain amount.  Maybe not the best plan if you use a ton of data, though.  Just another option to consider.  I would be interested if anyone else has had experience (good or bad) with Ting.

The verdict is the LG Nexus 4, purchased directly from Google Play, totally unlocked, then signed with MetroPCS (month to month, no plan) and Google Wallets works great!

- Virgin was on the old standard and would not work with the LG Nexus 4.
- Zact would not sell me a plan unless I bought one of their phones.
- US Cellular does not work in Folsom where I live.
- Sprint could not give me any plan with what I needed for less than $70 month.

The plan I have with MetroPCS is $40/month , but limits me to 500MB of data.

When I examined my past usage, I realized I was using less than 300MB /month in 3G and 4G combined.

Awesome. Make sure that you limit your Ingress playtime or you will reach the 500MB quickly :) Viva la resistance!!
