Wanted to propose a structure for the group.
This is based on a model I use for a Woodworking Meetup that has been quite successful (over 190 consecutive weekly meetings!)
It breaks down simply:
1. Show and Tell
2. Group Project
3. Snacks, snacks, snacks.
As we already have a grasp on snacks......
For the GDG, a show and tell could include neat new tools, bugs, Googleisms or personal projects. Limit it to a few people or time. Could also be guests. Try to keep it to 15 to 30 minutes and one or two topics.
Regarding a project, the premise is pick a specific project the group would like to tackle together. As everyone is likely at different skill and interest levels, we can operate loosely on who does what and when.
A starter project in Google Apps Script that is very popular (based on how often I seem to build this) is a simple input Form, spreadsheet tracking, Gmail notifications and basic Google Sites output.
The resulting project could be shared in the Google Gallery/Marketplace.
Similar projects likely are fun to do in GAE, Dart and more.
Rob Howe has a really interesting GAE project idea to build an interactive Google Map using the new datastore, FlexTables.
I'd be more than happy to spec out the GAS Form/Sites project and help lead it.
