Hey people,

Welcome to NITT GTUG. As you might already be knowing, this group/
mailing list is for developers who use Google tools and products.
Gtug's require permission to get started, from specific people within
Google who manage gtug's, and we could finally get the permission to
go ahead only recently.

Gtug's are usually not directly endorsed by Google themselves but by
the community, which means people like us. So, we are free to conduct
as many events related to such Google developer tools, as we can. If
we are active and become popular, we can get Google employees to come
to our college and give talks, as well.

The first thing that we could do is conduct a kickoff event where we
tell others what this is about and conduct a tech session as well.
Regarding this matter, it was strongly suggested by Sashank (Google
Bangalore employee and gtug-coordinator for chennai gtug and our gtug)
to us that we do it within a week.

We can have the kickoff session sometime next week in the evening and
have a tech session related to Android, as well.

Your thoughts on this?

We just need to spread the news about the kickoff session once we
confirm the date, and then put up posters for the event as well. We
would have to get a venue for the event and I think I'd be able to get
permission for I-Lab 1st floor as it is a weekday.

If the session topic is going to be about Android, I can take the
session. Others are welcome to join me too.

Everyone gets to attend the events and learn new stuff. There isn't
much organization work involved, other than spreading the news about
the events.

We would be having our kickoff event on Thursday, 13th October at Octa
Annexe (i lab) first floor. I will get the permission for the venue
tomorrow.

The event will be of short duration (5.30pm-7pm) as cycle tests are
coming up next week. Not many would turn up for longer sessions.
Therefore, we will need to have only a few talks for the kickoff
event.

We will be having a talk on what GTUG's are, what we are supposed to
do, and an Intro session to Android by Jeh and myself.

I will confirm the date and venue after getting the permission
tomorrow (shouldn't be a problem). I would want to meet with all 3rd
years and 2nd years in this group tomorrow evening, so that the
publicity/poster work can be distributed among us.

Please share your mobile numbers with me by tomorrow.
