Happy New Year All.

AAC 2013 is ready for launch along with the Africa Google Barcamp 2013.

*What’s AAC ?*

The Africa Android Challenge is an opportunity to discover the best
developers and Android experts on the African continent. The contestants
have an opportunity to create innovative applications and produce local
"African" content.

This whole effort is community driven and is a way to assure the long-term
success of African developers invested in the Android application
environment. We also expect that such initiative will lead to the
discovery of unexpected, rich, and valuable local content and applications.

*Some stats of AAC 2013*

- 30 Countries
- 200 Submissions
- 156 Approved
- 52 Devices distributed
- 16 GDG Barcamp Events to celebrate the winner from Tunis to Adis
Ababa, Dakar etc...
- New frontiers : We added new talented developers from : Malawi,
Botswana, Mauritania, Benin

*What’s Africa GDG Barcamp ?*

Africa GDG Barcamp <http://gdgbarcamp.org/> are large,
community-developer-driven events. There will be speaker sessions,
Hackathons, code labs, and more on Android and GoogleCloud.

Imagine thousands of developers from all around Africa with the same focus
at the very same time…that’s what synchronized Android GDG Barcamp are all
about!

We will acts as a liaison to obtain sponsorships and fosters collaboration
between individual GDG’s to organize local events around Google Cloud and
Android.

Targeted dates to organize your event : 10th to 30th April.

*Prizes:*

70 Android devices and a number of exciting prizes to be won including
special prizes for the GDG and JUG managers/organizers. Last year more than
20 GDG and JUG Organizers received Android Tablets and Phones.

*ROUND 1 :*

- January 20th : Africa Android Challenge submission site opens
- April 05th : Deadline for submitting apps
- April 10th : End of first-round - Judges announces Semi-Finalists
- April 10th : Shipping Android Phones and Tablets to the organizers
and winners (semi-finalists)
- April 10 to April 30 : Frame to organize GDG Barcamp sync events
(GDG/JUG) to celebrate the winners.


*ROUND 2 :*

- April 10th: Re-submission site opens
- May 10th: Deadline for resubmitting apps
- May 20th: End of the second round - Judges announce the winners.
