Hi all!
Düsseldorf GTUG has been renamed to Google Developer Group Düsseldorf in short GDG Düsseldorf.
I think this is a good opportunity to point out what we are doing and whats behind the group.
The GDG Düsseldorf does not belong Google. The GDG Düsseldorf is, like any other GDG a community which means that YOU are the GDG Düsseldorf.
GDG Düsseldorf != Google
GDG Düsseldorf != Randy
GDG Düsseldorf == [“Resul”, “Toby”, “Nils”, “Vieh Anh”, “Dirk”, “Randy” …. YOU ]
The GDG Düsseldorf is supported by Google which means that we can request for Speakers, Knowledge and anything else we need to make our work to be a success. This also means that we have to be active and willing to be part of an active community.
How can you be an active member of the GDG Düsseldorf?
ask questions on our mailing list or our G+ page
answer on our mailing list or our G+ page
make suggestions on our mailing list or our G+ page
participate at our meetings
help organizing meetings or events
give talks about topics you think that others could find exciting
care for PR such as Anouncements on Xing, Twitter, G+, Mailinglists etc.
create Website
create Logos for events etc.
Please keep in mind that community means actions by its members and not perfection. In e.g. if you give a talk about something it doesn't have to be rocket science. Not even your English has to be perfect (as you can see ;-) )
When I look back to what we done this year I am happy to tell that we participate the Global Android Dev Camp 2012 and we having every month our regular meeting.
But we also missed a few things: Google I/O Extended, DevFest and V Android Hack
Why did we missed these events? Well till today the GDG Düsseldorf has been driven basically by one person: me … Which is not enough manpower to organize all this. That is why I am now asking for your help!
I am glad that we had several speakers from the community namely Nils, Marius, Resul, Toby! However there a few things more around the Group that have to be done as mentioned above.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday September 13th please read on here.
Regards
Randy
