Dear,

The Google Cloud Developer Challenge 2013 is on!

You can participate in the Google Cloud Developer Challenge by developing new applications built using Google’s cloud platform particularly Google App Engine.

Unlike last year when Google Student Ambassadors and Google Developer Group managers were initially barred from the contest due to doubts over their affiliation to Google, we have stated it explicitly in the terms and conditions that GSAs and GDG managers can participate in this contest.

You can win prizes that include Android devices and up to $20,000 USD. There are also special prizes for students and female developers! Checkout the winners of the last years challenge here!

You can check the challenge blogpost here and follow the hashtag #gcdc on Google+.

Visit http://www.google.com/events/gcdc2013 to sign up for updates and learn more about the challenge.

Please help us spread the word! The challenge poster and branding images are available here. You can use the hashtags #gcdc to spread the word on google + and #gcdcwisdom for development tips and mentoring related posts (there is also a special prize for mentoring).

For those GDG managers who have already submitted requests for support using this form, We will be getting in touch with you for next steps.

We will be having an info session on Tuesday, 10 September via a public hangout on air to go through the details of the contest . In the meantime please refer to the FAQs for more info.

FAQ

Q:What is the developer challenge going to be about?

A: The Google Cloud Developer Challenge is a contest designed to motivate and reward entrants who develop applications that are based on Google’s Cloud Platform that are original and relevant to the region in which they live.

Q: I am hosting a Devfest, how can I leverage this?

A: A Devfest is a great opportunity to spread the word about the contest. One way could be to have a session on Google’s cloud platform. It would also be great to set aside about 15 mins to present the contest to the attendees using information that will be made available when the contest is launched.

Q: Can i participate in the developer challenge if i host the event or if I am a GDG manager?

A: Yes, you can.
