Hi guys,
I wanted to find out if there are any mentors here that would be interested in recruiting a graduate for a year long placement as part of their course. At RecWorks we are firm believers that a year in industry is a positive part of a technical degree course. We have worked with many students that have done this as part of their course and it almost always has a very positive effect on the remainder of their degree, their final result and their ability to hit the ground running when they do start in their careers.
Some of you may remember we launched an initiative last year called Mentored Projects which was to try and get more students doing projects from industry. Through this and other initiatives we have been involved in through the GDC, we have been forging some great bonds with universities throughout London.
We have now been invited to help place a students find companies they can do a year long placement within, that will form part of their degree course. Technical students could come in and work with you for a year. Worth noting that all students on these programmes must have achieved a minimum average of 60% across all their first-year modules, so they are very good students.
I’m interested to hear from:
- Employers that would consider having a student work with them for a year long placement starting October
- Anyone that have had students in the past and whether this was a good/bad thing for them
- Anyone that did this as part of their degree program and whether they felt it was beneficial (and how)
If anyone would be interested in more details on this initiative then please do let me know.
Kind regards,
Barry
