Is there anyway to allow uploading of non-google docs supported
document types? For example, an encrypted document? I want to
primarily use google docs as a storage location for my encrypted
backups.

It's something we are working on.
We are primarily waiting for the GData library to implement this first
so we don't have to hack our way around it.
