Hi all,

We are pleased to announce that we have been sponsored by DeBortoli Wines (http://debortoli.com.au) to put in the time to develop and release GDatacopier 3.0, please follow our development notes and roadmap here http://code.google.com/p/gdatacopier/wiki/DevelopmentNotes30

Major feautres

 - OAuth 2 login
 - Clean up files on client side (sync style utility)
 - HTTPS
 - Any document policy support
 - Admin level support for Apps users

We will also attempt to address most open issues as part of the development as well.

It's likely that we will drop login via username / password completely.

Please post any feature requests, while we are working on this so we can address them.

Thanks.

I am wondering if this project is still under development. I am very interested in these proposed features but have not seen a v3.x version published.

Thanks!

Hey Andrew,

GDataCopier is still under development, unfortunately it's mostly done in the spare time I have (with little bits of sponsored development) which I haven't had much of this year.

3.x is a complete rewrite of this utility, OAuth 2 implementation details were a little sketchy when I was working on it earlier this year, that slowed me down a little as well.

Might get to this over the coming months when I have a little more time available.

Please hang around on the list so we can keep you posted.

Are there any features in particular you are interested in?

Hi

I'm really interested in using this to download Google Drive contents for our entire Apps domain to a local server so it can be included in backups like any other file.

We're using GYB (Got Your Back) to backup GMail to a local server. I'm now looking for something similar that uses OAuth2 two-legged authentication to get me access to Drive contents as well.

Is there any development code I can work on? I write a reasonable amount of Python so could help push things forward in work time potentially - if the project would be interested in that?

Best wishes

Alex

G'day Alex,

I have been meaning to put a lot of code to GDataCopier and 3.0 out there for people to use, unfortunately have been a little time poor.

Would absolutely love for you to contribute code and would give me reason go get back into it as well.

How about I email you off the list and have a chat about this?

The feature I am most interested in is to be able to backup a select group of users documents. We primarily use google apps as a way to supply our students with e-mail and collaboration but we do have some administrative docs that we would like to take backups on. This seems fairly straightforward for a user to do on behalf of themselves but we want to use the OAuth so I can do this on their behalf.

Thanks!
