I want to send my best wishes to everyone on the planet, but especially
to the people who are engaged in making the world better. This is the
time of year when most of us reflect on what has been and how we have
managed our joys and our challenges.

For me, a particular joy has been working with a group from GCP, HMI,
IONS, and others, to create GCP 2.0. This new project will continue and
enlarge the work we started in 1997, with new instrumentation, new
analyses, and the addition of data streams from electromagnetic field
activity and from trends in social media. A small test network is now
running, and the full deployment of 1000 nodes will begin in early 2023.
Exciting and heartening, especially because the new project will have an
explicit focus on efforts to increase wellbeing and positive intent in
our world. You can learn more about GCP 2.0 at https://gcp2.net

The original GCP network is still running strong, though it is smaller,
and I plan to maintain it as long as the Egg hosts wish to continue. We
occasionally have a look at events in the world (like the recent World
Cup final) and we want to be able to make comparisons and correlations
with the new GCP2 network.

My wife and I decided to move from Princeton, where we lived for 40
years, to White Hawk Ecovillage, near Ithaca, NY. That was a challenge,
but it brings us near our son Greg (three doors away) and into an
intentional community with good people -- and lots of kids to enjoy,
watching them growing wise by the minute.

I wish you happy holidays and a peaceful and joyful New Year!

Roger

Some feedback on the new devices.

I noticed that hosts have to pay $300US for one. I’m not sure if that will hinder uptake particularly in countries where the currency exchange isn’t kind, but if it does, it may be better to crowdfund the network and then freely deliver the devices to vetted hosts.

Funders could be given an ‘official certificate’ in digital form to say that they supported the network (of have some kind of part-ownership). When more people have a stake they’re likely to keep interest in the project up and tell others about it. The certificate may even give the rough location of the device they ‘part-own’ along with email updates on how the network is performing.

Just thoughts.

Happy New Year all.
