My name is Ed Acker and I am interested in the integration of rational and intuitive thinking. Currently I am working in the field of data mining as it applies to scientific discovery. Before focusing on the use of super computers in scientific hypothesis generation, I did empirical research on individual differences in the use of rational and intuitive information processing strategies. I look forward to learning how my background/interests can contribute to GCP.

There are a number of good questions that might be addressed using data
mining as the first stage. Since the GCP database is large, it lends
itself to mining part of the data and testing the resulting hypotheses
on an independent part. For example, we tested the existence of long
term trends in the primary measure (network variance) by doing alternate
seconds, hypothesizing the same general pattern.
