GCP/EGG Update December 23 2011

We are in the midst of the year-end holiday season shared by many
peoples and cultures, and I want to send my wishes for increasing peace
and wellbeing for us all.

There continues to be strife and human-caused tragedy around us, but
people who study trends find that, surprisingly, there is less violence
and war as each decade passes. The trend is masked by the focus of news
organizations on negative manifestations in our complicated lives, but
it is important to know that there is progress toward the ideals of
humane resolution of disputes and away from the resort to coercion and
violence. It makes sense for the GCP to look for evidence regarding the
