I hope you all have had a successful wrap-up to a busy Fall Semester! As we clean out our email in-boxes and tidy our desks before heading out for Winter Break, please don't forget to nominate your colleagues, program, graduate assistants or others who deserve to be recognized!
Attached you will find the nomination forms for the five (5) Annual GCPA Awards that will be given out at the upcoming GCPA Annual Conference being held February 6 - 8, 2013 in Columbus, GA. Below you will find descriptions for each of these awards.
Please note that all nominations are due to me, Ron Lunk (rl...@spsu.edu) by Friday, January 18, 2013. Nominations are open to all members of GCPA, self-nominations are accepted.

Outstanding Graduate Student Awards (Masters and Doctoral)
These awards are presented to two students currently enrolled in a graduate program in the state of Georgia related to preparation for student affairs practice. Recipients have demonstrated scholastic achievement and research in student affairs through
dissertation or thesis work, journal and newsletter publications, colloquium or institute participation, and other significant research and scholarly activities. The recipients have also demonstrated commitment to student affairs principles in working with college students via assistantships, internships, practica, and/or part-time or full-time work, and have shown commitment to the profession through involvement in professional organizations.
Outstanding Student Learning Program
Instituted in 2000, this award recognizes innovative practices of a student affairs
division or office that promotes the goals of student learning and personal development. Recipients of this award have demonstrated the following: The specific goals of the
program complement and reflect the institution’s commitment to student learning and personal development; the program facilitates the interaction between institutional
resources and the student population to achieve learning and personal development; the program demonstrates collaborative efforts between student affairs units and other institutional units to promote student learning and personal development in a
cooperative environment; and the program uses local institutional-based assessment and research findings as well as information from the broader field of higher education.
Roger B. Winston Outstanding New Professional Award
The Outstanding New Professional Award is named in honor of Dr. Winston for his outstanding contributions to the state and to the profession. This award is presented to a GCPA member who is currently employed in the student affairs profession, who has six or fewer years full-time experience in the field and who has demonstrated service in leadership, research, innovative programs, and other professional activities.
Theodore K. Miller Outstanding Professional Service Award
This award, appropriately named for Dr. Miller, is presented to a GCPA member who has more than six years of professional student affairs service and who has demonstrated service to GCPA and to the profession through teaching, counseling, administration, research, publication, and involvement in state, regional and national
activities.
