GCPA Executive Board Updates

Good morning GCPA!
It is with mixed emotions that I announce Joy Griggs’ resignation as President-Elect from GCPA’s Executive Board. Joy has taken a job back in Alabama with her family, and while this is an exciting time for her, it is a loss for our organization. Joy has successfully functioned in many different roles for our organization over the years. Joy began her journey on the Board as Conference Chair-Elect and then she Chaired the 2011 Annual Conference. Most recently, Joy served a two-year appointment as Treasurer and now President-Elect. Please join me in wishing Joy the best of luck in her new position!
Per the Bylaws of our Organization, under Article V - The Executive Board, Section 8 – Resignation, Death, or Removal it states:
In case of resignation, death, or removal of an executive board member or officer of the Association, the executive board shall appoint a person to serve the remainder of the term of office.
It is with great honor that I announce that the board officially appointed Dr. Brenda Marina to serve as GCPA’s new President-Elect. Dr. Marina is currently an Associate Professor at Georgia Southern University, where she also serves as the Program Coordinator for the Higher Education Administration Programs. Additionally, she has served our organization as both a Sector Representative for two years and as the Georgia Journal Editor. Please welcome Dr. Marina as the new President-Elect of GCPA!
Hopefully, more excited news is just around the corner. Larry Cloud, the 2013-2014 Conference Chair, will have you conference details very soon so that you all can save the date! Per the organization’s recommendations and feedback on location and dates, we are planning for a very successful fall conference!
