Survey Request: Observations of Campus Incivility

Dear GCPA,

I am contacting you in hopes that I may have your assistance with a research project.  As a graduate student in the College of Education at Georgia Southern University I am working to complete my final research project.  This research focuses on issues of incivility through the eyes of Student Affairs Professionals.  There is currently no research on this topic, as most research focuses on issues of incivility inside of the classroom and with relation to faculty. 

I believe that you have a unique opportunity right now to assist me in the first ever research on this topic.  All I need is approximately 5 minutes of your time to complete the online survey.  The survey can be found here:  https://docs.google.com/a/georgiasouthern.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEdsUF9CblVVM2VwRUlKdVdhbEpvbkE6MQ#gid=3.  The survey will close next Friday, March 8^th.

This project has been approved by the Georgia Southern University IRB under tracking number H13323, but this project has not been approved by the owner of this list serve.  Any questions regarding this research project may be directed to my advisor, Dr. Russell Mays (RM...@georgiasouthern.edu) or GSU’s IRB (I...@georgiasouthern.edu).

Observations of Campus Incivility Through the Eyes of Student Affairs Professionals

Thank you for clicking on this survey link. I am the Interim Director of Student Conduct and a graduate student at Georgia Southern University in the College of Education. I am interested in collecting data about how Student Affairs Professionals perceive acts of incivility on their college campuses. At present, there is no research on this topic. I believe that by obtaining more information on this topic that we, as Student Affairs Professionals will be able to make better informed decisions as we work to create programs, campaigns, workshops and speaker series to address issues of incivility on our college campuses, and to better educate our students on this pertinent topic. This page is to request your participation in this research effort. There is of course no penalty should you decide not to participate. You can withdraw at any time. If you agree to participate, please thoughtfully complete the following survey. Completion of the survey constitutes permission for me to use the information in the study. I know of no risks or discomforts associated with the completion of this survey. You may print this page now in order to obtain a copy of your informed consent. This survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Please be assured that your responses are anonymous. All information will be kept confidential to the best of my ability, but please know that there is only limited assurance of confidentiality due to this being an online survey.
