Hello,

This is similar to a few other threads (e.g. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/gcp-developers/lYI-eLE3veo), but they all seem to be from a long time ago, or in the case of that one, fixed with printer firmware, so I think this may be a different issue.

I'm using GCP to print to a Dymo LabelWriter 450 on Windows 10. Small labels print horizontally, while larger labels come out lengthways. Large labels work fine, and when I print a small label from Chrome to the Dymo printer locally, the attached PDF comes out fine too. But when I add the printer as a GCP printer using that Chrome browser, and then print the same PDF to the same small label via the GCP printer instead, it comes out rotated vertically on the label (see attached photo). There is no orientation field when printing to the GCP printer so I can't change that in Chrome, and ticking "Fit to page" adds margins but doesn't help change the orientation.

Using the GCP API I see the same issue. I have tried pretty much every combination of page_orientation and fit_to_page, also tried swapping the PDF's internal width/height or changing its internal Orientation to Landscape, and also tried changing the page form sizes for the printer in "Print Server Properties" and various other printer settings, all without success (unless I've managed to miss the one working combination!)

The odd thing is that I'm pretty sure I this was just working a few months ago, but I wonder if I'm remembering incorrectly as I can't see anyone recently posting about changed behaviour in this area.

Am I missing something obvious? Is there anything else I should try?

Thanks & regards,

Nick

In the end I gave up and switched to PrintNode instead, which is more suited to label printing anyway as its a lot faster - but then you have to pay (a small amount) for it so fair enough. It's a shame as I'm a big fan of Google Cloud Print in general, and use it for lots of normal printing. But I have to say that after switching to PrintNode it has gone from a headache to not having to think about it anymore and seems to have been rock solid. (I'm nothing to do with PrintNode - I just saw it mentioned on a similar forum elsewhere!)
