I have a Canon ImageClass MF6180dw that was previously connected successfully to Google Cloud Print. It now displays an error message: "Cannot use Cloud print (Server auth. failed.)" on its display.

Canon technical support is not helpful. They say that the printer cannot connect to Google and there is nothing they can do.

When I join the printer to the WiFi network of my personal hotspot from my smartphone, it works. When it is joined back to regular WiFi, it does not. So something is in fact blocking the connection, but I have no idea what.

Used nmap from a local workstation. Outbound traffic of:
tcp port 5222 XMPP to talk.google.com

all show open

No firewall settings changed on Netgear WNDR3700v3 router. ISP is Verizon.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I was having the same problem about the same timeframe March 24th. I also have a Canon ImageClass printer (MF8280Cw), I also use a Netgear Router (R6300v2). My ISP is Cox. My setup has worked fine since I got the printer December 4, 2014 and now I get Server Authentication Error on the Printer.

I just swapped out my Netgear router for my older dlink and Google Cloud Print is working fine again. I did need to re-register the printer but that was because I deleted the printer from Cloud Print while trying to troubleshoot.

If yours is working through Google Cloud Print on the MIFI then it sounds like it is a Netgear Router issue or an ISP issue. I'm not interested in paying Netgear for support so now that it is working with my Dlink, I will use that until I find out what is wrong with the Netgear.

Interesting. Thank you for your post. With no router settings or firmware changes, this makes me think it must be on the ISP end...

I didn't make any Router setting changes or firmware changes either. Maybe something in the Router is not working properly but it definitely went from working fine to not working. I am now back on my Dlink and everything is working fine.

I have a similar issue using Canon ImageClass 6160. Google cloud registration was fine for 2 days then red light started to flash showing that Google Cloud registration is not connected. I turned off the printer and powered back. The issue was still there.

However, from the Chrome setting, the printer is "online and ready to print". Click on "details", the regration was shown to be active and was 2 days (not the time when I powered the printer back).

When I send print jobs, I got error bips and no job printed.

I called Canon. They said that Google is changing Cloud Printer server. I am not sure if Canon would have a new firmware release to matching any updates on the google side to make ImageClass printer cloud printing to work.
