We have a Windows 2003 Print Server running the Google Cloud Print Service. On this print server we have installed, among others, a Kyocera TASKalfa 3050ci MFP printer. It is connected over an IP port. The printer shows up fine and we are able to manage it through the use of groups and sharing (which is great). However we are unable to change any of the default capabilities when we print. It looks like we have selected the alternate option of the printer, be it color, landscape, multiple copies, page ranges etc, however when we send the job we get only the default options. Strangely, we also seem to get duplicate copies of the printer(s) showing up in the management console on this server, not sure if this is related.
Thanks for any help.

Sorry should have added running chrome Version 29.0.1547.41 beta-m and that when I print through windows all driver features are available and work as expected.

I'd like to take a look at your printer's capabilities files to determine why it's not honoring the options your selecting and just going with the defaults. Can you send me your printer's ID. Here's how to get the ID:

2. Locate (or search) for the printer in question
3. Click on the printer
4. Once the printer is selected, click the button in the action bar that reads “Show Print Jobs”
5. Once the button is clicked, the URL in the browser will change--the changed URL will contain the printer ID in it

The duplicate copies of the printers can be caused by the service re-registering the printer (as if you had installed it multiple times). I'm including the engineer that worked on that service for more ideas.

Hi Robert,
Were you able to take a look at the printer with the link I sent last week?
Thanks

Hi,

I did get a chance to look at the printer capabilities and unfortunately it looks like the server is generating a correct XPS ticket. I suspect what's happening is that the printer driver is ignoring what's specified in the print ticket except for the PageDevmodeSnapshot ticket item. This ticket item is a blackbox to us and unique to the printer driver.

Another question, do you have the XPS Essential Pack installed on the Windows 2003 server? I wonder if installing that will change the way Windows communicates the print ticket to your printer.

Hi,
The XPS Essentials Pack is installed on this server. So it looks like its a vendor driver issue then, in your opinion?
Thanks

It looks that way. We're planning to look into a way to fiddle with the DevmodeSnapshot to accommodate these kinds of printers, but there is no timeline for when that would be yet. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
