I just arrived on the Gold Coast from the UK and wondered if this
group was still active? I've been writing Java software for 8 years
but I'm also interested in iPhone and Android development, alternative
JVM languages and technology in general. Just looking for some like
minded people to get to know.
Craig.
There isn't a great deal of traffic via the group, but I am certainly
still interesting in what goes on.

Sounds like you've got your hands full!
I'm taking a bit of time off to help get the family settled but I plan
to start looking for work after the Australia day celebrations so any
help making useful contacts would be greatly appreciated! We chose to
live on the Gold Coast (currently in Hope Island) so that I could
commute into Brisbane for work.
I did a little bit of Groovy scripting a few years back but have never
done any Grails programming (mostly for the lack of time and a good
trial project rather than lack of interest). I've done a lot of Java
desktop development and I've been watching Griffon with interest, so
I'll try and come along to the Grails meet up to say hello.
Hope to meet you soon,
Craig.

I know of a few places that do Java development on the Gold Coast. The
biggest of them all is the IBM Tivoli development centre at Southport.
They do a lot of varied stuff there and I bet a reasonable amount of
Java is part of it.
