Subject: Suggestion on JVM Group

Hi All
Suggestion for you guys - feel free to knock it back if people don't like it.
Current state of play
1. GGQ going well on meetup
2. QJUG (Brisbane) starting to meet again - but still a little
unorganised and people don't know what's happening. Meetup would help.
3. GCJUG (Gold Coast) currently a mailing list - but we want to start
meeting regularly F2F and need some way of organising better and
pulling in new people.
Was wondering if anyone would have any object to me changing the name
of the GGQ meetup group to "Queensland JVM Group" - similar to
http://www.meetup.com/auckland-jug ?
We could then have GGQ, BJUG (I suggest we rename from QJUG) and GCJUG
meetings all going on under the same banner and getting some
cross-polination. If people don't like JVM group we could just call
the whole thing QJUG - but I think JVM is more inclusive - people
could run meetings on Jython, JRuby, Scala, Clojure, Rhino - whatever
they like really.
I would keep the GGQ meeting in the usual timeslot and I think QJUG
has a regular spot too. Any other meetings could be added ad-hoc.
My initial reason for suggesting this was that I have no more meetup
subscriptions left and I'm a tight-arse, but I think having a broader
appeal might be a smart move.
Feedback much appreciated.
Steve
