Students who are 13-17 years old, enrolled in a pre-university program, and have their parent’s consent to participate can now go to the program site g.co/codein to register and start working on their first task. 14 open source organizations have been busy creating over 1,000 tasks for students to choose from in categories like coding, documentation, user interface, quality assurance, research, outreach and training.

For those new to the contest you may want to check out the beginner tasks that each organization has created. These are a great way to start in the contest. You can complete up to 2 of these tasks.

Google Code-in will continue until January 26, 2016. On the contest site you can find Contest Rules, a Getting Started Guide, Frequently Asked Questions, and important dates for the contest.

Good luck and have fun everyone!

Best,

Correction, the contest ends on January 25, 2016 (not the 26th).  The last day a student can register or claim a task is January 24, 2016.
