It is significant because gold is meant to honor people. Beowulf
honored the king when he got back from killing grendel's mom.He gave
him a majority of his riches. The town also honored Beowulf when he
died. They buried all of his riches and the riches he got from killing
the dragon with him to honor him and what he did for them.

Gold-gifting is part of the hero code in Beowulf. Before Beowulf
defeats Grendel, Grendel wrecks havoc on Heorot and since the Danes
are unable to defeat him they offer him gold and attempt to honor him
in rituals for his mercy. When Beowulf defeats Grendel and his mother,
the Danes offer him gifts in return for saving their community. This
can possibly be considered a form of payment because the Danes
appreciate what Beowulf has done, and if they want him to save them in
the future then they must offer him something in return.

The value of gifting gold is not the fact that the gold it's self is
valuable but the fact that whom ever is getting the gold risked
something far more valuable then gold for someone else and the person
giving the gold is thankful and gives the gold in return. Point in
fact Hrothgar gives Beowulf loads of treasure because he defeated
Grendel without any weapons or armour. The amount of treasure recived
is parallel to the danger of the feat that the person accomplished and
how much they honor and respect that person.

Gifts of gold and jewels were used to honor people. Beowulf is given
gold in return for fighting Grendel and his mom. Beowulf is also
honored when he dies. He gets some of the gold from the tower that he
died in. They bury it in his honor so that no living man may use it.

When beowulf gave gold it was because he cared for his people. The
signifcance of it is gaining loyalty and love from his people and also
showing that he has it because he is powerful and strong. When he was
fighting the dragon in the end, Wiglaf talks of how he gave them
armour and swords and gifts and how they should repay him for all of
his kindness and everything he's done for them.

It's important because the characters viewed it as something that
proves their importance. The more gold they have, the more fame they
have for doing different deeds.

The significance of giving gold in this story is so that Beowulf can
gain peoples trust and loyalty by bribing them. I guess it kinda
shows that he cares about the people and that he has power and wealth.

Beowulf gives the people gold and armor and swords to show his
compassion for them and show that he is a good and kind king who has
power and wealth. He was brave and when he gave people the gold he
also gained their trust and love. One time when Beowulf was fighting
the dragon Wiglaf tells the other cowards that they should all help
their king kill the dragon because he was generous to them and gave
them weapons and things. Because of the gift of giving Beowulf gained
peoples trust and stuff.

People, especially warriors, are honored by being given gold and other
riches. They have done something worth being recognized for so they
give them something valuable. Beowulf is given gold when he kills
Grendel and Grendel's mother.

It is significant because the giving of gold is like giving praise to
the person and honoring their achievements. After Beowulf killed
Grendel and Grendel's mother, Hrothgar gave him gold and treated him
with a huge feast. Also, when Beowulf died his people gave him a lot
of the gold in the tower that was guarded by the dragon. This
represents how much he meant to his people and that he was valued by
his people. They gave him gold to say that he is more valuable than
objects. The amount of gold they have shows how important they are to
their people.

the significance of the gold in the story is showing respect, honor,
and shows that objects aren't as important as people and heros. when
beowulf killed grendel, he was showered with gold and riches, same as
when he killed grendals mother. also beowulf gave the king gold when
he got back from a fight, and he did it to honor the king. also when
beowulf finally dies, he was honored with gold. where he was buried,
gold was buried with him.

to his people. But then it is left with him on the highest point so
everyone can see and remember.

Giving gold as a gift is one of the most homorable gifts there is.
Beowulf risked his life, no once, but twice to save the Danish
people, therefore Hrothgar gave him a valuable gift. After he
traveled home he gave a portion of his gold to his king, Higlac,
because part of it should be his for sending Beowulf to begin
with. He also gave small gifts to the man who guarded his
ship while he was away.

Gold is used by all people and it signifies honor and power. When you
do something great usually you are rewarded and they litteraly
rewarded beowulf and his men for the things they did by killing
Grendel and when they received gold it went into great detail about
everything and the significence of it and how some things ment more
then other things. Also it is when a warriror recieves things that
part of it will go back and be presented to his king. Gold is also
given out approprietly for the dead men in the story.

the gold or riches is to honor people for their good deads like how
beowulf got horses and a sattle for killing grendel and in the end he
got all of the dragons gold. it isn't about being rich or having the
most it is about what you did to get the gold or why you have the gold
and that you did something great to receive.

The value of gold is like praising or thanking someone after they've
done something important for you. In the book the king gives Beowulf
gold and treasures after he kills Grendel and Grendel's mom. Also it's
a sign of respect because they bury Beowulf with all his treasures.

They honor gold in this story because the higher you are in society,
the more gold you get . Also when you die, they put gold in a boat
with yo then lgiht the boat on fire and float you away. They also use
gold to show their appreciation to someone for doing something
honorable for someone.

" Wear these right jewels, beloved beowulf. enjoy them, and the
things, and the gold, o fortunate youg warrior; grow richer, let your
fame and your strength go hand in hand: and lend these two boys your
wise and gentle heart!" ( 54) Gold is given to the honorable and noble
people. The heros abtain the gold and usually pass on to their kings.
Beowulf tells his people if i do not return give my king my gold. It's
like a social ladder starting with kings, then heros, and so on...
They bury Beowulf with his gold because he is the one who is worthy
and the gold and has earned it. No one else should recieve such
honors.

Riches and jewels are meant to honor someone for something they did or
the significance they represented. Beowulf is honored when he dies by
being buried with jewels and expenses.

Gold is used to show respect, honor, and ranking in their society.
Because Beowulf is a leader and a great warrior, he is showered with
gold. He has a lot of respect for his king, and passes on some of the
gold to him. Hrothgar gives Beowulf gold almost as a welcoming. It's a
gift to his guests, and it shows their compassion and friendship.

In Beowulf the gold is a form of honoring people. Beowulf recieves
gold when he returned from killing grendels mother. The value of gold
is very important to the fact that they believe that the more gold you
have and the more honored you are that you will go to a better place
and have a better after life.

The significance of gold in the book is a very honorable gift to
someone. Beowulf was honored when he died because they loaded his gold
in a boat with him and burned the boat as it floated away. Beowulf
honored his king with the offering of gold he gave his king. They also
buried the gold Beowulf got from the dragon to honor him.

I think that the significance of gold is that it is only given to the
honorable people. like when beowulf dies he is burned with his gold
because he is honored by the kings and stuff. also he kills the dragon
and takes all of his treasure which he is also burned with and they
think that you will go to a better place since you have all these
riches and because you are more honorable

Gold is ment to honor people. The higher up you are the more gold you
can recieve. The lower in the ladder you are the less you can recieve.
Beowulf was the king of his town so he got all the gold he could get.
He didn't want anyone to have what was his so he had it burned when he
died and it was sent down the river.

Gold is a way of honoring, power, and respect. When gold is given, it
means that people respect you. Beowulf was given gold when he returned
from killing Grendel and his mother. The people honored him. He was
also given gold when he died so he would be honorable in his after
life.

In the story gold isnt seen as a valuable object, gold has more
meaning to them then that.
Gold is given to a person who went above and behind what someone would
risk them selves for.
Gold is also meant to honor the Kings, like when Beowulf is given gold
as a reward, and he gives it to the
the king as a way of honoring them.

The significance of recieving gold as a gift in this story is that
you're honored. Everyone sees you as a strong and loyal person and you
are well liked. After Beowulf fought all the bad guys, Hrothgar gave
him a lot of gold for succeeding these tasks.
