The old nurse tells Penelope that the stranger that's been there is
Odysseus & Penelope thinks she's crazy at first, but when she starts
to believe her, they go to see him. I don't get how throughout the
whole book when Odysseus puts on different clothes it hides his
identity...does his actual appearance change or do the gods make it so
people don't recognize him?

In book 23, Penelope finally discovers that the wandering warrior from
Troy is actually Odysseus. She tests him by asking (although not in
the form of a question... actually, I have no idea what just happened
on the bottom of page 462 and the very top of 463) him about his bed.
Odysseus passes the test, they hug, and Odysseus takes Penelope to his
bed to get some "booty" and to talk about their struggles over the
past 20 years. The sun rises the next day and Odysseus travels off to
his father's place.

Penelope doesn't believe the old nurse lady that her husband Odysseus
is downstairs. When she goes down there and sees that is is him she is
in disbelief. This book ending in the happily ever after. How did
Odysseus hide himself so well and for so long?

The nurse tells Penelope that the stranger is Odysseus and she has
trouble believing that. When she comes downstairs she tests Odysseus
by asking him about their bridal room. He tells her all the right
details and she believes it is him. They go to the room and he tells
her the story of his journeys. Odysseus, Telemachus, he swineherd, and
the cowherd leave to go see Odysseus' father to fulfill Tiresias's

I'm not sure why we didn't read the last book. Maybe it's because this
one already has a happy ending. Odysseus should have just gone out and
told everyone that he had come back. They could have gone to live on
another island, which, because he killed he Ithica's youth, might have
been a good idea.

In 23 Penelope doesn't believe that its Odysseus even when she sees
him face to face. She thinks that a god is playing a trick on her. She
finally believes that its him when he talks about how the bed was made
and everything. Odysseus decides that beings they have just killed all
the noble men of Ithaca they should keep to themselves for awhile. But
Telemachus and Odysseus have to go to Laertes' so they are cloaked in
the dark so no one can see them and while they are gone Penelope is to
stay in her room and except no visitors.

gets girl. odysseus is reunited with penelopy. she doesnt exactly
believe that its him at first but she finally figures it out. they
talk about the past and thats pretty much it end of story. i still
dont like odysseus as a hero. i dont like how this book makes him look
that way. telechums is the real hero.

Even after Penelope is told by Eurycelia Odyssey is here, she still
doesnt believe it. She goes to the hallway and sees him for the first
time in ten years. Most people would run and hug the person but not
Penelope she doesnt believe its really him, she thinks she being
tricked by the gods. Its not til she puts him to the test and he tells
how their bed was made that she really thinks it Odyssey. Its kindof a
unusual happy ending.

In book 11 the only I got from the story was that he left the island
where he had been stuck for quite a few years. He went to Hades and
talked with people of the dead and asked questions that he had a
longing for someone to answer. Other than that im not quite positive
why he had so many questions for the dead instead of just asking
people who were still alive.

In book 23 Odysseus returns home but his beloved wife does not believe
that it is truly him. Until she washes his feet and notices the scar
that she remebered her husband (odysseus) had had. Other than the fact
they that were finally reunited and she had to make a choice between
the suitors and Odysseus I don't really think anything else of
significance had happened.
