The Institute of Education (IOE) is delighted to be working with The Royal Society on their project “Vision for Science and Mathematics Education 5-19”. The Royal Society has a longstanding commitment to supporting the development of a world class education system in science and mathematics, one that will increase the numbers of school-leavers with the science and mathematics qualifications required by industry, business and the research community to assure the UK’s future economic competitiveness.
The IOE research is aimed at examining current provision relating to teachers and the science and mathematics workforce, leadership and ethos within schools and colleges.
An essential part of this research is the views of teachers. Accordingly, IOE have set up a survey for all those who teach science and mathematics to those between 5 years and 19 years of age. We are interested in the views of experienced teachers and NQTs, those in primary schools and FE colleges as well as secondary schools, and those in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as England.
