I've just got back from the ASE annual conference and have picked up
lots of really good ideas. It's a great event for teachers, and I
would recommend it!

One of the organisations that I saw in the exhibition was
Understanding Animal Research, which is a not-for-profit organisation
aimed at promoting better understanding of animal research.

Their website is: http://www.understandinganimalresearch.org.uk/homepage

One of the things that they offer to schools is a visit from speakers
involved in research from universities and laboratories.

I know that animal research is a topic about which many students feel
strongly, and thought that teachers might be interested in being able
to invite practitioners into their school so that students can talk to
scientists who deal with the ethical and practical issues involved on
a day to day basis. If nothing else, it may show your students that
they are just ordinary people!

More details are here: http://www.understandinganimalresearch.org.uk/teacherszone/schools_visits_faqs/

Best wishes
Carol
