I am forwarding this email below from the British Council in case of interest to you or your colleagues

We are looking for help in getting secondary schools across the UK involved in a new competition from the British Council and Rolls-Royce in collaboration with the Institute of Physics: The Big Science Challenge.
Aimed at secondary schools in the UK and the Middle East, the competition offers students the opportunity to put their Science and engineering skills into action. Teams of 11-16 year olds must design an original solution to a local, national or global problem concerning water. The winning teams will be brought together in London to meet their international counterparts and present their work. In addition, one UK team will visit Dubai for an exciting programme of educational and recreational activities.
Through this competition, the British Council and Rolls-Royce aim to inspire young people and develop their skills in Science and engineering in an international context. The initiative will also give students the opportunity to work with peers in the UK and Middle East and develop intercultural understanding and global citizenship.
For more information on the competition, you can visit our website http://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/the-big-science-challenge
We are very excited about this competition and do hope that you will be able to help us get as many UK secondary schools as possible involved. It would be great if you could pass the details on to your networks of schools. We will be happy to supply any necessary materials, flyers or text for e-mails or e-bulletins - just contact me or my colleague Emily Pelter (emily....@britishcouncil.org ).
