I'm trying to add a static address to an instance.
I get an error "Quota 'STATIC_ADDRESSES' exceeded. Limit: 1.0".
The instance is new and hasn't ever had a static IP applied to it.
I've never had this issue before. How can I fix this?

Hello Joe,

Is this issue related to a project which is in free trial mode? While your project is in the free trial, you are subject to reduced usage quotas. If you need to test Google Cloud Platform beyond the limits allowed on the free trial, you can upgrade to a paid account.

If your project is not a free trial, then please email me your project ID and I'll try to resolve this issue. Alternatively, you can use the Developer's Console, go to Compute Engine -> Quota, click on the Change request link and apply for more Static IP addresses for the region you're trying to create your VM instance.

Sincerely,

Kamran

Hello Kamran, is there any maximum quota of how many IPs can be used and how much is the charge for every static IP?

If I want to add 5 or 10 static IP addresses to my project / server then what do I need to do (other than upgrading from free trial)?

Hello

Updating this old thread, with the answer for the question asked by S Karmakar.

Depending upon the requirement and the description of your request , Quota team consider the approval for the submitted quota increase request. As per the documentation, "If you reserve a static external IP address but do not use it, you will be charged for the IP address" Pricing is provided under the same documentation link. In order to be eligible to use the IP addressed more than the current available quota for your project, it requires to submit quota increase request using this documented procedure.

Hello Navi,

As a free subscriber on a test account , is there a provision for static ip? Or is that only for a paid account?

It seems like you should be able to reserve a static external IP address as there no such limitations mentioned on a 12-month, $300 free trial account. However, as Navi commented before, you will be charged for the static external IP address, if you reserve a static external IP address but do not use it. I would strongly recommend you to contact the Google Cloud Platform Billing Support, if you have any further concerns.
