I have an old project I want to delete. I can't click delete because it says I don't have the proper permissions. I created this project and have never shared it with anyone.
Additionally if I try to open any pages related to the project I get an error that I don't have permission to do that either.

You do not have sufficient permissions to view this page

There was an error while loading /iam-admin/iam?project=9072997&folder=&authuser=0&orgonly=true. Please check that the project ID is valid and you have permissions to access it.

Click here to return to the Cloud Platform console home page.
Minimum permissions required for this page:

    resourcemanager.projects.getIamPolicy

All permissions checked for the current project:

    iam.serviceAccounts.list
    resourcemanager.projects.get
    resourcemanager.projects.getIamPolicy
    resourcemanager.projects.setIamPolicy

Is there any way for me to delete this project?

Deleting a project requires a different permission than creating a project. It is well possible that at the time of creation of project you had the "resourcemanager.projects.create" permission.

Right now, you are missing the following permission "resourcemanager.projects.delete" in order to delete the project. That particular permission can be found in the owner role. If you are the owner of the project, you should be able to delete the project. If not you will have to contact the owner for deletion.

In regards to permission to view different pages, you will need at least a project viewer role in order to achieve that, and higher permissions if you want to make changes.

I should be the owner. I created the project to play around with some of the APIs and no one else has ever touched it. Is there a way to see who the owner is?

I just noticed that the project ID is numerical, where as it is now it appears to be impossible to create a project with a numerical ID (it gives you a seemingly random one). Is there any chance that is the source of the issue?

Hello Jon,

The numerical ID you are seeing next to the project is normal and is just the unique identifier number added after projects to differentiate similar project names and will get added automatically.. EX :  companyprojectname-8363 vs companyprojectname-1113

I just ran a quick test in my project and I was able to confirm that what you are seeing is due to not having enough permissions on that project to delete it. How that happened is difficult for me to tell but not having the "Project Owner" role for the account you are viewing the project with is the root cause here.

You can check the permission level you have on the project by navigating to the permissions tab in the Manage resources page under “Actions” >> “Permissions”. If you are not listed there or if you are missing the “Project owner” role that explains why you are not able to delete it.
